Smart Decision Calculators exists for a simple reason: most everyday financial questions are answerable with arithmetic, but the arithmetic is tedious and easy to get wrong. We build focused tools that do it for you and explain exactly what they did.

What this website provides

A growing set of free calculators covering budgeting, loans, rent versus buy, vehicle costs, electricity, solar payback, university costs, travel budgets and freelance rates, each paired with a plain-language guide. The tools are designed to be fast, mobile friendly and usable without an account.

Accuracy and transparency

We publish formulas, assumptions and limitations instead of hiding calculations behind a black box. Where future rates, property appreciation or solar generation cannot be known in advance, we say so and encourage cautious testing.

Content maintenance

Calculators and guides are reviewed and updated as formulas, typical tariffs and common usage patterns change. Reader-reported errors can be sent through our Contact page.

Limitations
